The relationships between culture and disasters has always been at the core of my research interests. My work particularly focuses on how human-environment relations have the potential to impact human health, and how different cultural frameworks can cause conflicts, especially between corporate institutions and local communities. I began my career researching pollution in the Caribbean, and currently focus on disaster preparedness and recovery in Latino communities in the United States.
